Leeuwergem-Elene

The historical landscape Leeuwergem-Elene, about 100 ha in size, consists of a central castle estate (15 ha) surrounded by a listed landscape containing the village centres of Leeuwergem and Elene. This project develops a free educational trail in which the historical evolution and sustainable management of this landscape is evidenced through an innovative smartphone of tablet application and virtual landscape reconstruction. In the castle domain itself, the historical evolution of the castle, the gardens and the wood will be shown in the same way.

Het historisch landschap Leeuwergem-Elene, dat ongeveer 100 ha groot is, bestaat uit een centraal kasteeldomein (15 ha) met daarrond een beschermd landschap waarin de dorpskernen van Leeuwergem en Elene liggen. Dit project ontwikkelt een vrij toegankelijke educatieve natuurwandeling waarin de historische evolutie en duurzaam beheer van dit landschap via een innovatieve applicatie voor smartphone of tablet geduid worden, onder meer via virtuele reconstructie van het landschap. Ook in het kasteeldomein zal de historische evolutie van het kasteel, zijn tuinen en zijn parkbos met dezelfde technieken getoond worden.
