Saint Laurentius church of Ename around 1015 by visualdimension on Sketchfab

The Saint Laurentius church in Ename is probably built shortly before the year 1000 under Ottonian rule. Although the church is originally conceived as a single nave church, a larger church with side aisles, a west choir and double east choir is built. Although little research exists on the meaning and use of a double east choir, it is possible that a ceremonial coronation of the Ottonian emperor Henri II takes place in this church in 1019 or 1020 and that the upper east choir plays a crucial role in this event.
