S. Salvator 1300

Saint Salvator abbey of Ename around 1300

Although the Ename abbey is considered to be small with only 12 monks and an abbot, it is one of the richer abbeys in Flanders. In the second half of the 13th century, the abbey is extended with a quarter for sick monks with hospital and a chapel.
