Saint Salvator 1065

Saint Salvator abbey of Ename around 1065

In 1063, an abbey is founded in Ename by the count of Flanders. The Benedictine abbey starts in the former Ottonian palace building. A new abbey around the existing Saint Salvator church is built, re-using the masonry of the former keep.
